In today’s world, attending a self-defense class in Singapore isn’t just about learning to fight—it’s about empowerment, safety, and confidence. Our women’s self-defense training classes teach practical, real-world techniques that help women feel strong and capable in any situation.
While Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is often recognised as a self-defense martial art for women, our classes are not purely focused on situational self-defense techniques. Instead, BJJ teaches leverage, control, and submission—skills that empower women both on and off the mats. With regular training, women naturally gain the confidence and ability to protect themselves if needed, whether for sport, fitness, or self-assurance.
Our BJJ program for women in Singapore is taught by an all-female team that understands the needs and goals of women who want to train in a safe and comfortable space. Whether you’re a woman seeking a female-only environment, or simply looking for a new way to stay active and strong—our classes are for you.
Train in a safe, comfortable, and empowering setting. Our women-only BJJ classes ensure a judgment-free, welcoming space where women can support each other as they grow stronger together. Our classes are open for ladies from ages 9 and up.

I did BJJ as a child for about 6 months. After my exams and with all my free time, I decided to give it another shot.
My parents were a little hesitant about me starting again, but after we found out that Gracie Barra had women’s classes, my parents gave me the green light. I signed up for a trial lesson, and even though I was really quiet, the coaches were incredibly welcoming and understanding. It’s been about 7 months since that day, and I can confidently say that I’ve been thoroughly enjoying myself. I initially stuck to just the women’s classes, but my confidence has since grown, and I now attend the mixed-gender classes as well. The guys who I thought would for sure kill me take good care of me and let me work when we roll. Professor Bruno and the other coaches teach with passion and are always open to my constant queries, which I greatly appreciate. As a matter of fact, you could ask anyone there for help, and they would try their best to help you improve. Everyone there is so awesome!
In addition to the place being very clean and well-equipped with all the amenities you might need, it’s also conveniently located near the Bugis MRT station.
I sound like I’m glazing right now, but real talk, joining GBSG has been the best decision I’ve made in a while!
Clean and beautiful location with bright white mats. They have an all women class which was well attended when I dropped in. Nice coaching environment with a cool gym with squat rack and kettlebells attached .
Joined Gracie Barra Singapore in Jan 2025, just after turning 40. After years of watching my kids train since 2021, I finally stepped off the sidelines and onto the mats myself.
Walking into something new at this age was scary, but the GB women’s class changed that quickly. Rolling with a group of women who consistently show up, support one another, and grow together has been humbling, energising, and surprisingly fun. Training three times a week is now something I genuinely look forward to.
Big thanks to Audrey, Wan Jia, Azlynn, and the rest of the GB Singapore team for creating such an inclusive and empowering space for women of all backgrounds and stages of life.
I now share something special with my kids. We roll together, laugh together, and speak the same BJJ language.
