Team Gracie Barra Singapore brought a whole lot of heart to the Bushido Fight Series – Singapore Grappling Championship: White x Blue over the weekend. With a team of 12 (sorry you had to sit this one out Simon! Hope your knee gets better soon), the team brought home a whopping 8 Gold, 2 Silver, and 3 Bronze medals – clinching overall 2nd place!
There were so many awesome sweeps, submissions, takedowns, its hard to say which was our favourite for the day, but do check out some of the shots Nick Goh was able to capture of the display of beautiful Jiu-Jitsu by the team.
We’d also like to congratulate some of our first time BJJ competitors who absolutely slayed their divisions and came out on top, and a huge congrats to Edd Chia who won both the 70kg and Absolute divisions ( even defeating opponents who were from the over 100kg division!). Edd’s hard work and dedication to the Martial Art has not only gotten him the 2 gold medals, but he also earned his blue belt at the end of his last match!
We are so very proud of everyone who participated because we know how much work you put in, and for the courage you showed for putting yourself out on the competition mats as well! Thank you to all the GBSG supporters – friends, family, teammates – who showed up to cheer the team on, and thank you to Professor Bruno for cornering everyone with such fervour.
Team GBSG will be sending competitors to the Copa Da Malasia next (July 20-21 2019). If you’re interested to join the team going to Kuala Lumpur, do check with Professor Bruno.
